Georgian International Arbitration Centre (GIAC) and the Union of Oilproducts Importers hosted a working session on “Arbitration – Efficient Alternative to Litigation” for energy sector.
This was the second sectorial meeting organized by Georgian International Arbitration Centre this year. First major event was held for Construction Companies, which was a great success. The main objective of these type of workshops are to raise awareness of arbitration institution as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism and to promote arbitration as a means of settling disputes controversial to traditional court litigation.
President of GCCI Nino Chikovani, Deputy Minister of Energy of Georgia – Ilia Eloshvili and the chairman of the Union of Oilproducts Importers – Vano Mtvralashvili made welcoming remarks of the event.
The Secretary General of the Georgian International Arbitration Centre – Beka Injia spoke about the importance of Alternative Dispute Resolution for legal environment and business development. He addressed Arbitration institution in general and noted international experience in this area. He also introduced activities of the Georgian International Arbitration Centre (GIAC) and discussed procedural aspects of GIAC arbitration procedure.
Presentations were followed by enhanced discussion, during which the participants were able to engage in open dialogue with the speakers, raise questions and receive answers on characteristics of dispute resolution issues in practice.
