GIAC Launches the Certificate Course for Lawyers: Representation in Arbitration Proceedings
Georgian International Arbitration Centre (GIAC) together with the Center for International Commercial & Investment Arbitration at Columbia Law School (CICIA) is pleased to present a certificate course designed for legal professionals seeking to deepen their expertise in arbitration.This course, the first of its kind in our region, will provide 38-hours of skill-oriented training for legal professionals.
The course includes five sessions from October to December 2024 and offers in-depth training on key aspects of legal representation in arbitration proceedings. The course covers the following topics: Introduction to Arbitration and Arbitration Agreements; Initiating Arbitration; Constituting the Arbitral Tribunal; Procedural Requests and Hearings; Evidence in Arbitration; Document Production and Disclosure; Main Hearing Preparation and Post-Hearing Procedures; Conducting the Main Hearing and Recognition and Enforcement of Awards.

Course Details and Logistics
• Number of Participants: There are limited number for places. The applicant will be chosen based on the relevant requirements and on the first come first serve bases.
• The course will be conducted entirely in English.
• Each day of the course will include two 2-hour sessions.
• Catering will be provided each day, including coffee breaks.

Prerequisites for Admission to the Course
Interested individuals must:
• Hold a higher legal education, or at least a bachelor's degree.
• Have at least 5 years of post-graduate experience in the legal field.
• Be proficient in English, as the course will be conducted in English.
• Be able to attend all course sessions in person in Tbilisi, as there will be no virtual component.
• Experience in arbitration / litigation will be considered an additional advantage.
